The Breathing Life Lung Centre opened in October 2009 as a new facility of the Makarios III Hospital in Nicosia, Cyprus. Created in partnership with The Breathing Life Trust, the Cyprus Government and Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Centre treats young people with acute lung disorders on an outpatient basis as well as supporting the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. In 2013 the centre treated over 6,000 patients. The Centre also undertakes research programmes in critical areas of respiratory disease in conjunction with leading institutes worldwide, including the Harvard Institute.

In 2013, the Centre was awarded a research grant of 3 million euros from the European Union.
